The housing and compression cone are made from stainless steel. This combination is especially resistant to temperature and pressure-tight, however once the element has been fixed in place, there is a permanent connection between the sheathing thermocouple and the compression cone. The sheathing thermocouple can only be removed along with the compression cone from the compression-type fitting, however the combination can still be used.
